Serving Our Neighbors. Strengthening the Church. Learning to Love Quietly.

Parents and Rising Church Family,

This summer, our teens will be participating in something we're calling Teen Mission Week—a four-day opportunity to serve quietly and faithfully, both inside and outside the walls of Rising Church.

Each afternoon from Tuesday, July 22 through Friday, July 25, our students will gather to serve different parts of our local community. These projects are simple, hands-on, and sometimes overlooked—exactly the kind of work Jesus often spoke about when He said, “Whatever you did for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you did for me.” (Matthew 25:40)

Here’s what the week looks like:

  • Tuesday, July 22 – We’ll be helping the Lapeer Pregnancy Center with outdoor cleanup: pulling weeds, washing porches, clearing gutters, and restoring a bit of dignity to the space they use to serve others.

  • Wednesday, July 23 – We’ll join with the Lapeer Church of Christ to serve at their community soup kitchen—getting a glimpse of how the larger Church is loving our city in quiet, faithful ways.

  • Thursday, July 24 – We’ll take care of projects at Rising Church that other volunteers usually handle—cleaning, lawn care, and the behind-the-scenes work that helps keep our doors open and our gatherings welcoming.

  • Friday, July 25 – We’ll visit a homebound family from our congregation who can’t join us on Sundays because of health challenges. Afterward, we’ll close out the week with some fun together—celebrating not ourselves, but the joy that comes from serving others.

Each day, we’ll meet at Rising Church at 3:45pm and should wrap up around 7:00pm.

This week isn’t about hype or recognition. It’s about learning to see people the way Jesus sees them. It’s about discovering that many of the things that keep our church and our community strong are done quietly by people who rarely get noticed. And it’s about helping our students catch a vision for the kind of lifelong faith that serves without needing the spotlight.

Thank you for entrusting us with your teens. We’re praying that God uses this week to form hearts, grow compassion, and open eyes to the power of faithful service.
